Oscar Piastri has been summoned to see the F1 stewards in Japan following the final practice session at the Suzuka Circuit.
The Australian was noted by the Audi F1 team when Nico Hulkenberg felt he was hindered through Turn 15 by a slow-moving Piastri.
“Oh my God, that McLaren,” Hulkenberg complained over the radio.
After taking a look at the incident, the stewards declared it warranted a further investigation ahead of qualifying.
It adds to McLaren's misery on Saturday as Lando Norris was struck by an early issue.
A fault was found with the reigning world champion's ERS pack which needed changing, keeping him on the sidelines for the final practice outing.
