McLaren has confirmed that Formula 2 championship leader Alex Dunne will complete its line-up in next month's Berlin Formula E rookie test.
Alongside competing in F2, the McLaren junior driver holds the position of being the FE team's development and reserve driver.
The 19-year-old currently leads the F2 standings by three points ahead of Richard Verschoor, and has claimed victories this season in Bahrain and Imola for Rodin.
He is viewed as one of the hottest drivers in the junior market, and appears to have all the credentials to potentially find himself in F1 in the future.
For now, McLaren is handing him a second outing in its FE Gen3 Evo machine, which he drove for the first time back in February's rookie practice session ahead of the Jeddah E-Prix.
"I’m very excited to be getting another opportunity in the GEN3 Evo at the Berlin Rookie Test next month," said Dunne.
"Since I joined the team as Reserve and Development Driver, I’ve learnt so much about what it takes to get the maximum out of these cars, and I can’t wait to get out on track again."
In his role with the FE team, Dunne has spent time with the Bicester-based outfit, completing several simulator sessions in preparation for Berlin's unique Tempelhof Airport circuit.
The test takes place a day after the Berlin E-Prix on 14 July, and every outfit has to field two drivers. Dunne be partnered by Ella Lloyd.
"Having already played a crucial role in supporting the team this season as our Reserve and Development Driver, I’m very pleased that Alex will have another opportunity behind the wheel of the GEN3 Evo at the Berlin Rookie Test," said team principal, Ian James.
"Alex has shown to have great pace and skill in Formula 2 this season, and I hope he will take this confidence with him to make the most of this outing in Berlin."
