McLaren has signalled its intention to boost performance when it comes to low-speed corners despite its step forward in pace.
The Woking-based squad introduced a significant upgrade package at the Hungarian Grand Prix last month, which aided its route to its first win of the campaign.
Reigning champion Lando Norris took to the top step of the podium, coming out on top against team-mate Oscar Piastri, who held the lead in the opening phase of the race before retiring with an issue.
Despite the promising enhancement of its pace, McLaren has recognised there is one key area it must find gains.
“We improved in some areas where we are now, in Hungary at least, comparable to Ferrari,” team principal Andrea Stella told media including RacingNews365.
“We need to improve further in low speed.
“Some of the performance came in the straights, which I think is the benefit of running the HPP power unit.”
As is the case with its rivals, McLaren is not standing still when it comes to improving its form as Stella indicated that there will be more parts delivered to the car soon.
“The upgrades we took here are part of a round of upgrades that is distributed over a few rounds,” he said.
“This was the first part of these upgrades. There will be a few things coming for the next races.”
