McLaren team principal Andrea Stella has stated his squad is establishing itself at an “unprecedented” rate in F1 following its title success across the last two seasons.
The Woking-based squad ended its championship drought in 2024 when it won the constructors' trophy at the season finale in Abu Dhabi.
It marked a significant turnaround from the team's form at the start of 2023, when it languished towards the back of the field before mid-season improvements commenced its path towards title glory.
Stella hailed the rate of speed at which the team has made steps to establish itself as a winning force in F1.
“We never miss an opportunity for us as a team to remark how incredible and positive this season has been,” McLaren told media including RacingNews365.
“As a team we are establishing ourselves at the top of F1.
“We have won the second constructors' world championship in a row. We won it in 2024 in Abu Dhabi at the last race, this year six races before the end of the championship.
“These kind of facts talk about the strength of this team. We are establishing ourselves at a rate which is unprecedented in F1, and this means that at times, you may find some bumps on the road.
“This is the kind of conversation we have internally. The culture of the team is a culture of progress. It is not a culture of finger-pointing, it’s not a culture of focusing on what we could have done better.
“It’s about let's learn from what we could have done better and get stronger.
“The level of energy is high. The level of pride in a way to show what we are capable of is high.”
Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have been at the forefront of McLaren's recovery over the last handful of years, tasked with bringing home the results on the track.
Both drivers have long-term contracts in place at the team, leaving Stella confident over the future of the squad's set-up.
“And when I talk about the team, I definitely have to mention Lando and Oscar - so supportive of the team at any single time,” he said.
“I think we wouldn't be in a better position with our drivers to witness how we go as a team.
“We are always in a team when we perfectly execute races or when we leave behind some opportunities.”
