Red Bull has revealed there is enough damage on Max Verstappen's car 'to keep the team busy' following a scary moment for the four-time F1 champion in practice for the season-opening Australian Grand Prix.

Verstappen was getting up to speed in the second session at Melbourne's Albert Park when he went careering off into the gravel at Turn 10, just doing enough to prevent a more serious incident from occurring.

Major F1 sponsor cancels Australian GP events over Middle East crisis

Qatar Airways, the official airline partner of Formula 1, has cancelled all hospitality events at this weekend's Australian Grand Prix due to the Middle East crisis.

It was reported by The Australian Financial Review that the airline had called guests to inform them that it would be inappropriate to host celebrations at the grand prix while other invited guests remain stuck in the Middle East.

Lando Norris has declared himself to be playing catch-up following what was "a tricky first day" on his return to action as F1 champion.

Norris was left languishing near the bottom of the timesheet at the end of the first practice session at Melbourne's Albert Park, completing just seven laps in his McLaren due to what the team has confirmed was a 'transmission control issue'.

Charles Leclerc issues 'step ahead' warning of F1 rival

Charles Leclerc has labelled Mercedes as being a "step ahead" of the rest of the competition following Friday practice for the Australian Grand Prix.

Mercedes did not top the timesheet in either practice session on Friday, with Leclerc leading the way before Oscar Piastri lowered the benchmark during FP2.
