Kimi Antonelli had a huge crash during FP3 at the Australian Grand Prix, triggering a second red flag of the disrupted session.
The medical car was also deployed, signalling that the collision was over 25G. However, the young Italian appears to be okay, getting himself out of his stricken W17 and making his way back to the pits.
Coming out of Turn 1 at Albert Park, the three-time podium finisher got on the exit kerb, sending him into the wall on the outside of Turn 2.
The pit lane was subsequently closed, but the session is expected to be resumed.
It is not yet clear if Mercedes will have time to rebuild his car in time for qualifying in Melbourne, but extensive repairs will be required.
Antonelli was fourth on the timing board at the time of his incident, behind Charles Leclerc, Oscar Piastri and Lewis Hamilton.
