Max Verstappen’s manager Raymond Vermeulen has provided an update on the Dutchman’s F1 future.

Verstappen’s contract has been the subject of speculation for some time, despite the four-time world champion having a deal in place with Red Bull until 2028.

However, reports have suggested that the agreement includes performance-related exit clauses.

Verstappen has been an outspoken critic of the new 2026 Formula 1 regulations, stating that a 60/40 split between the combustion engine and battery would be the minimum requirement for him to remain in the sport. The FIA is currently planning to introduce such a balance from 2028.

While rumours surrounding Verstappen’s future continue to circulate, Vermeulen has reiterated the terms of the existing contract.

“Our contract runs until the end of 2028,” Vermeulen told Sport BILD, as quoted by F1 Insider.

“Of course, contracts always contain exit clauses, but we’ve never had to make use of them so far.”

Verstappen has endured a challenging start to the new season, securing just one podium finish across the opening seven rounds.

Red Bull’s drop down the competitive order has fuelled speculation that the Dutchman could look for a move to a more competitive team.

Vermeulen has stated that the Verstappen camp is keen to make a decision on its 2027 plans in the near future.

“We want to make a decision quickly so that everyone knows where they stand, possibly even before the summer break,” he said.

“We’d like to continue with Red Bull and see Max finish his career there, but he must always have the chance to compete for victories.
