Max Verstappen stunned Interlagos yet again as he stormed from the pit lane to the podium in the São Paulo Grand Prix.
The Dutchman transformed a difficult weekend in Brazil, where he endured his worst qualifying session in four years, into another stand-out performance in his storied F1 career.
Events early in the 71-lap race conspired against the four-time F1 drivers' champion, but he wove together a masterful display to recover from P18 and last on lap seven, slicing through the field.
He found his way to the front of the pack before pitting for a second time on lap 55. It may have cost him a slim chance at victory, but it essentially assured him a podium finish — and with that, another piece of F1 history.
Verstappen is now the driver with podium finishes from the most different starting positions: 16 different grid slots and the pit lane, for a combined total of 17.
Prior to the weekend at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace, he shared the record with Fernando Alonso.
Interestingly, there is a gulf on the list between P10 and P14 for the 68-time grand prix winner.
