F1 fans have delivered a decisive verdict on whether Red Bull should prevent Max Verstappen from competing outside the championship.

That revelation comes following controversial comments from Juan Pablo Montoya, who urged Red Bull to reconsider its stance after the tragic death of Juha Miettinen at the Nurburgring Nordschleife, with Verstappen competing in the same NLS race when the fatal incident occurred.

with an overwhelming majority opposing any restrictions on the four-time champion's extracurricular racing activities.

Speaking on his MontoyAS podcast, the Colombian argued Red Bull should impose a complete ban on Verstappen's non-F1 racing.

"100 per cent. No, sorry. 200 per cent," Montoya said when asked if Red Bull should stop the Dutchman from competing elsewhere.

"The money that Red Bull has invested in him should be enough reason to say, 'Look, we gave you the chance, but with this accident, we are reconsidering it, and we think that this should not happen'."

But in the poll, conducted by RacingNews365, an overwhelming majority opposed any restrictions on the four-time F1 drivers' champion's extracurricular racing activities.

Montoya cited his own career experiences, revealing he was prevented from testing rally cars despite his interest.

"You are investing in the driver, a big investment. Then you have to protect him," the former McLaren and Williams driver explained.

However, F1 fans appear unconvinced by such arguments, with the poll revealing strong support for allowing Verstappen to continue racing outside Formula 1.

The results suggest the majority prioritise keeping the Red Bull driver satisfied over concerns about potential injury risks.

Verstappen expressed shock following Miettinen's death, describing it as a reminder of motorsport's inherent dangers.
