Red Bull Motorsport Advisor Helmut Marko has indicated Nyck de Vries could be in line for a sensational comeback with AlphaTauri. The Dutchman was ousted after just 10 races this season after a disappointing run of form and made way for the returning Daniel Ricciardo, who had been off the grid since last term. But the Australian's participation at this weekend's Dutch Grand Prix looks in doubt after seemingly injuring his left hand and wrist in an innocuous second practice crash. Ricciardo kept hold of his steering wheel during the impact with the Turn 3 barriers as he followed compatriot and McLaren replacement Oscar Piastri off the track. The eight-time F1 race winner was taken to hospital for further checks following an initial evaluation at the Zandvoort medical centre, with eyes now turning to who would replace Ricciardo should he be unable to take part. On paper, Liam Lawson is ready as a reserve driver at AlphaTauri and Red Bull. But when asked by Motorsport-Magazin if De Vries is an option, Marko suggested it is not out of the question. "First see how things go with Ricciardo," added Marko. Lawson, who has been racing in the Japanese Super Formula this season, would however be the most likely replacement.
