Red Bull advisor Dr. Helmut Marko has "in the words of Toto Wolff" described the RB20 as a "diva".

After the recent Italian Grand Prix, Marko confirmed that the RB20's issues appeared to be aero-related, with a mistake made in the development of the car.

The Austrian highlighted that while the team started the season strongly, Red Bull discovered a different side of its latest challenger, an issue previously experienced by Mercedes.

"We know we took a wrong turn somewhere," Marko told Motorsport-Total. "We are working hard to come back.

"At the beginning of the year, we grabbed three one-twos with a car many people thought was going to be the next series winner.

"Then we discovered that the car was a bit of a diva - in the words of Toto Wolff."

Red Bull faced with 'complex' problem

A solution to its problems is yet to be discovered by Red Bull, with Max Verstappen again complaining of balance issues following qualifying for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in which he will start sixth, with team-mate Sergio Perez fourth.

"If we knew exactly what the problem was, we would have already solved it," stated Marko. "Tuning the chassis has become very complex within the ground-effect regulations.

"The whole concept of the car immediately reacts to every adjustment you make. For example, the tyres grain very quickly. That's what Max is also talking about.

"The competitiveness does not decrease with a small adjustment, but mainly because it impacts many other factors. Especially if it's not 100 per cent right."

With Red Bull still searching for the cause of its issues, Marko is against the team introducing downforce-related upgrades.

"It makes no sense to include updates with more downforce," he insisted. "First the problem with the car has to be solved."
