Lola has decided to split from technical partner ABT at the conclusion of the current Formula E season, in favour of the team being run fully in-house from the start of the Gen4 era next season.
The partnership between the British manufacturer and the German motorsport giant only began towards the end of 2024, when Lola entered the all-electric series.
The opening 18 months of Lola's time in Formula E have proven extremely difficult, with drivers Lucas di Grassi and Zane Maloney often finding themselves outside the points.
To date, Lola's best result was a surprise podium for Lucas di Grassi last season in Miami, where Formula E just so happens to be returning this weekend—albeit at the Miami International Autodrome rather than the Homestead-Miami Speedway.
It was always known that the first two seasons of Lola's existence in the championship would be a challenge, given the vast experience and knowledge its opponents have with Gen3 machinery.
For Lola, the real focus is on its Gen4 car, which has already been involved in both private manufacturers' tests ahead of the introduction of the new car next season.
In a statement released by the outfit, team principal Mark Preston said: "With the continued growth of the organisation, long-term commitment to Formula E and additional projects in the pipeline, Lola Cars has made the decision to consolidate its Formula E operations in-house at our Silverstone HQ.
"This will enable us to streamline activities, increase expertise for upcoming projects and better drive innovation through motorsport. ABT were our partner of choice to operate the team as we entered the all-electric racing series, with vast experience and technical expertise within Formula E.
"We’d like to thank them for all of their hard work and dedication during our first two seasons in the sport and look forward to continuing to collaborate with them for the remainder of Season 12."
