Follow first practice 1 at this weekend’s 2026 F1 Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia live with RacingNews365, as George Russell aims to close the gap again on Mercedes team-mate Kimi Antonelli at the top of the F1 drivers' standings.
Russell delivered arguably his best weekend performance of his F1 career in Azerbaijan, dominating at the Baku City Circuit, even if he did cross the finish line just under two-tenths of a second ahead of Red Bull's Max Verstappen.
Russell goes into the race in Malaysia 66 points adrift of Antonelli, with Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton in third position, albeit 103 points behind the 20-year-old Italian.
Mercedes is expected to dominate again, particularly with the W17s sporting a considerable upgrade. Can anybody mount a challenge this weekend as F1 visits Malaysia for the first time since 2017?
