Max Verstappen starts the race on pole position after a stunning effort to deny the favoured McLarens of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, with George Russell fourth and Lewis Hamilton fifth.
Hamilton must score a podium in the race or set a new unwanted record of 14 consecutive races without a podium, and also lose the record he holds for most consecutive podiums at one grand prix, having been in the top three at Silverstone every year since 2014.
