Charles Leclerc was slapped with a 10-place demotion on the grid for taking a new energy store, his third of the season when only two are permitted, meaning he will start 11th at best.
McLaren pair Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were a comfortable one-two in FP2, with drivers' champion Max Verstappen only 17th following a below-par Friday.
