Liam Lawson has told his Racing Bulls team that it must "score more points" in the second half of the F1 season.

Lawson ended the first 12 races with a DNF at the British GP after being eliminated in a first-lap collision with Esteban Ocon to leave him on 12 points out of a team total of 36.

The former Red Bull driver has only scored in two races, with an eighth in Monaco and sixth in Austria, with the latter the best result for a New Zealander since Chris Amon's fifth at the 1976 Spanish GP.

Despite the lack of points scoring, Lawson believes the team has not delivered on its full potential, citing Silverstone as an example of a missed opportunity.

"We just need to score more points," Lawson told the media, when asked by RacingNews365 where the team could improve in the second half of the season.

"We missed points [at Silverstone], we've had a very fast car recently and missed points, so Austria was great, but one great weekend is not enough.

"We need to keep doing them and races like [Silverstone], we normally love it. It is an opportunity for us to have a strong race.

"You look at Brazil last year, so it doesn't matter what car you are in, you can make something happen."
