Liam Lawson has acknowledged how his "pretty poor" weekend at the Marina Bay Street Circuit has "hurt" Racing Bulls.

However, the New Zealander was keen to say a "massive thank you" after the Faenza-based team had to twice rebuild his VCARB 02.

The 23-year-old will line up for the Singapore Grand Prix in P14, with his two session-ending crashes in practice two and three, respectively, seriously impacting his preparation for qualifying and the race.

Admitting it is "obviously not good enough", Lawson pinned his Q2 elimination on his lack of track time in the Southeast Asian city-state.

Reflecting on qualifying to media, including RacingNews365, he said: "I think it was looking pretty good until the last lap.

"I don't really know why we went slower on the new tyre, but obviously something that is probably a consequence of missing all those laps because of me crashing the car.

"It's something I'll learn from. It's hurt us this weekend, but all I can say is a massive thank you to the team for fixing the car twice.

"It's obviously not good enough for me, but we'll try and make something out of it tomorrow."

When asked what happened with his FP3 crash, which saw him get on the kerb at the exit of Turn 7, losing traction and snapping sideways into the wall, Lawson conceded that two costly errors in two days was unacceptable.

"Yeah, I just grabbed the kerb and it spat me out," he explained. "It's something that can happen around these types of tracks, but for me to do it two days in a row is pretty poor."

With Isack Hadjar reaching Q3 and qualifying eighth in the other Racing Bulls car, Lawson finds himself under considerable pressure.

Along with Yuki Tsunoda, he is fighting for his future with the Red Bull family — and, by extension, in F1 — but Lawson has "absolutely no idea" how his difficult round in Singapore will affect things, which has come just two weeks after a career-best fifth-place finish in Baku.

When it was queried if he could snatch points in the grand prix, the Racing Bulls driver responded: "I mean, it's gonna be very hard from where we are, but the car has been fast, so let's see."
