Liam Lawson has voiced confusion over his lack of pace during qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix.
The New Zealander is set to start the race from 13th on the grid following his Q2 elimination during the session.
Prior to qualifying, Lawson ended every practice session inside the top 10 and aimed to replicate the positive results in the all-important qualifying outing.
While team-mate Isack Hadjar was able to secure a spot inside the top 10, Lawson missed out on a position in the first half of the order.
“[It felt] really good [in] Q1 and to be honest, the car has felt pretty good all through the weekend,” Lawson told media including RacingNews365.
“It felt good through Q2 as well, I don't actually know where it slipped away. But it's the first time all weekend that we've lacked any speed.
“It's a shame. It felt good all weekend.”
Lawson bagged his first points of the campaign last time out in Monaco and has set his sights on adding to his tally once again in Barcelona.
“That's definitely the goal, we're going to try and move forward,” he added.
“It's going to be interesting to see what other teams do.
“If you have the pace advantage, you have the possibility of an overtake here which is obviously very different to Monaco.
“That's a positive and that's definitely the target.”
