Lewis Hamilton is set to start the Las Vegas Grand Prix from the back of the grid after suffering a disastrous qualifying session.
The Q1 segment was held in extremely wet conditions, with multiple yellow flags being thrown as drivers ran wide and off the track.
It was a case of drivers being in the right place at the right time to improve their times, but for Hamilton, he could muster no higher than P20.
Replays show that a bollard got stuck under Hamilton's car on his last lap, preventing him from going faster.
It marks the first time in Hamilton's career that he has qualified on the back of the grid on pure pace.
Alex Albon also featured in the drop zone after suffering a crash with the barrier late on, however he got the stricken Williams back to the pit lane in 16th place.
Kimi Antonelli and Yuki Tsunoda for Mercedes and Red Bull were also in the drop zone in 17th and 19th respectively.
Gabriel Bortoleto also failed to escape from Q1, ending the session in 18th place.
