Lewis Hamilton has been handed a three-place grid penalty following an impeding incident with Max Verstappen in Monaco Grand Prix qualifying.

The Ferrari driver was on a cool-down lap approaching Massanet with Verstappen on a flying lap, but was forced to abort following the near-miss.

Lewis Hamilton involved in late crash drama as Charles Leclerc remains driver to beat

Lewis Hamilton suffered a late crash in final practice for the Monaco Grand Prix in which Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc will head into qualifying as favourite.

With just two minutes remaining, and Hamilton chasing Leclerc's leading time of 1:10.953s, the seven-time F1 champion hit a barrier at the top of the hill.

Lando Norris smashes Monaco lap record as Lewis Hamilton faces investigation

Lando Norris broke the Circuit de Monaco lap record to claim a huge pole position for the Monaco Grand Prix. 

The Briton completed a remarkable three hot laps in the final part of qualifying, to deny Charles Leclerc yet another home pole.

Max Verstappen points accusing finger at Ferrari after Lewis Hamilton incident

Max Verstappen has blamed Ferrari for his incident with Lewis Hamilton in qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix, not the seven-time world champion. 

Hamilton and Verstappen have to visit the stewards following qualifying after the Briton was judged to have impeded the Dutchman at Massenet in Q1.
