Lewis Hamilton's wretched debut season with Ferrari took a turn for the worse when he crashed in final practice for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
The seven-time F1 champion has endured a difficult time of late, and is poised to end the season with a podium, never mind a win, for the first time in his career.
Midway through the final practice session of the campaign, Hamilton's approach to Turn 9 at the Yas Marina Circuit saw him career off track, turning through 360 degrees, before burying the nose of his SF-25 into a barrier.
Over the radio, Hamilton said, "Something buckled at the front and snapped the rear," before apologising to the team.
The session was halted for 13 minutes whilst Hamilton's stricken car was craned off track.
At that stage, Red Bull's Max Verstappen was quickest with a lap of 1:24.245s, albeit with the qualifying sim runs yet to take place.
