Nicolas Hamilton has made the "biggest announcement" of his motorsport career, after it was confirmed he is joining the reigning British Touring Car champions for the 2026 season.
The brother of seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis, Nicolas, has overcome cerebral palsy to become a driver in his own right, competing in championships such as the Renault Clio UK Cup and has had six seasons in the BTCC since 2019, only missing the 2024 season.
He has scored points twice in his starts in the championship, with a best of sixth place at Donington Park in 2023.
During his time, which also included four rounds in 2019, Hamilton has driven a series of cars, including Seat Leons, Volkswagens, Ford Focuses and an Audi S3 Saloon.
Taking to social media to announce his racing programme for 2026, Hamilton revealed that he had signed for Team VERTU, which is the current name for EXCELR8 Motorsport.
He is to drive a Hyundai i30 Fastback N Performance, with sponsorship by Draper Tools.
His team-mates include reigning series champion Tom Ingram, Ricky Collard, and the brother of former F1 and IndyCar racer Max, Tom Chilton, who has won 18 races in the series.
