Lewis Hamilton reportedly issued an off-camera apology to Sky Sports F1 presenter Rachel Brookes following a reserved interview after the Spanish Grand Prix.
Hamilton endured a difficult race around the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and told written media, including RacingNews365, that it was the “worst experience”.
The seven-time was considerably reserved in his answers to questions from written media following his drive to sixth place.
His uncommunicative approach extended to his interviews with TV broadcasters. Speaking to Sky F1's Rachel Brookes after the chequered flag, Hamilton had little to say on his difficult grand prix.
Rachel Brookes: “We heard the radio at the end where you said something is wrong with this car. Can you tell us how it felt and what you were dealing it?”
LH: “Not particularly. It was just not a great day.”
RB: “Also, the strategy call, can you talk about that?”
LH: “Strategy was good, the team did a great job, just... that's it.”
RB: “I hate seeing you in this mood, it's hard seeing you in this mood.”
LH: “What do you want me to say? I've just had a really bad day. I've got nothing to say. It was a difficult day, I've got nothing else to add to it. It was terrible. There's no point explaining it. It's not your fault, but what else is there to say?”
RB: “I totally understand that. I just hope they find answers for you.”
LH: “I'm sure they won't. It's probably just me.”

Hamilton is still awaiting his first trip to the podium this year with Ferrari. In contrast, team-mate Charles Leclerc has three podium results, including a drive to third in last Sunday Barcelona.
Sky Sports F1 lead commentator David Croft revealed to the Fast and The Curious podcast that Hamilton apologised to Brookes for his sombre interview.
"He was really down on himself,” Croft said. “And no one likes to see that.
“At the end of the day, whether you're a fan or not, Lewis Hamilton is the greatest racing driver we've ever seen.
"Statistically, he is the greatest. I think he's the greatest even without the stats.
“He wears his heart on his sleeve and should be applauded for that because it does a lot of good when he wears his heart on his sleeve.
“He did apologise to Rachel Brookes for being so down in the dumps off-camera. He said, 'I'm really sorry about that. I'm just so down.'
“And that just shows the extent that he really was down. He's not putting this on for the cameras, trust me."
