Charles Leclerc wants Ferrari to investigate why it struggled in Formula 1 pit-stops at a number of races prior to the summer break. The team was nearly two seconds, on average, slower than fellow leading teams Red Bull and Mercedes, and was a full second down on Red Bull's 2.8s at the Austrian Grand Prix. Leclerc wants to know the reason for the drop-off when asked about Ferrari's weaknesses by media, including RacingNews365 : "We have statistics of all the pit stops around the paddock and before this race [Belgium] we were still one of the best ones. "In the last few races, we started to struggle a bit more, so now we will look into it. It's been two or three races in a row where we've had one or two pit-stops where we've struggled. It has to become one of our priorities to maximise our points."
Red Bull lead the way on pit stops
Ferrari's pit stop form picked up during the Belgian GP, with the team marginally quicker than Red Bull having produced the quickest stop in-race for Leclerc at 2.19s on Lap 13. Overall Red Bull holds the crown for quickest pit stops throughout the season, having produced the fastest of the season at Hungary with a 1.98s pit stop for Sergio Perez. McLaren were second fastest in that race with a 2.01s stop for Oscar Piastri, while Ferrari's quickest stop was at the Saudi Arabia GP for Leclerc rounding out the top five at 2.10s.
