Charles Leclerc has set a target for Ferrari in the second half of the season as it looks to improve upon a difficult start to the season. The team currently sits fourth in the Constructors Championship on 191 points, 56 behind Mercedes and just five away from Aston Martin. Leclerc suffered two retirements early on in the season: the first owing to reliability in Bahrain and the second when he crashed out at Turn 3 in Australia when colliding with Lance Stroll. Speaking to media including RacingNews365 , Leclerc said: "I think a realistic target, first of all, should be to try and be second in the Constructors’, which is going to be a challenge. "McLaren now is back in the fight; Mercedes is always strong. Aston Martin a bit less recently, but I have no doubt that they will come back. So yeah, this is our target."
Ferrari plans updates
Ferrari brought its first big update package to Barcelona earlier this year, ditching the scalloped side pods in favour of a concept similar to Red Bull. The Scuderia also brought further updates to their front wing at Austria , but so far it has not managed to close the gap to Red Bull with Mercedes and McLaren emerging as the main threats for podiums. On the key to success for the Maranello-based outfit, Leclerc added: "We have few upgrades coming a bit later on in the second part of the season, which hopefully will make a difference and will help us achieve these targets."
