Lando Norris signals key improvement crucial to reigniting F1 title dream

Lando Norris believes his ability to "improve on worst moments" has been a key pillar behind his F1 title charge in 2025. At F1's summer break, Norris sits nine points behind team-mate Oscar Piastri, and has hit a rich vein of form, winning three of the last four races and four of the last seven since Monaco, including two second places. His only non-score in this run was in Canada when he collided with Piastri, but since then, he has wrestled momentum from his title rival after Piastri initially started the stronger of the two, winning five of the first nine races. Norris has spoken at length about his struggles with the feeling of the McLaren at the start of the year, but a minor front suspension upgrade in Canada has aided his feeling, allowing him to take the fight across the garage. Earlier in the year, Norris made a mistake in Bahrain qualifying and then crashed in Saudi Arabia qualifying to leave him out of position, but Norris explained how he is now better at overcoming such adversity. "There are always different situations, different moments along the way," Norris told media, including RacingNews365 , when asked in which area he had most improved over the past year. "As a driver, I still feel better than I was [last year], but that doesn't mean I always do a better job because the car is quite different.  "This year, I've had my tricky moments with the car and understanding how to drive it, because yes, it is still a McLaren and its papaya, but it handles pretty differently from previous years.  "I just want to adapt to that, but I've got to deal with it, I've had to deal with it, and I've needed to do a better job to get back to being as quick as I need to be, which I feel I've done and have improved on.  "I think my ability to improve on worst moments has improved and certain struggles during weekends or even over a session.  "Other than that, for everyone, there are going to be little things along the way that are a new experience or which you didn't expect and wish you could be better at."
