Former F1 driver Martin Brundle has praised Lando Norris' "outstanding" performance across the Mexico City Grand Prix, believing the McLaren driver found "overdrive".
Norris was unstoppable in almost every session at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, despite having missed first practice due to McLaren running Pato O'Ward.
The Briton boasted the strongest one lap and race pace, resulting in one of the most dominant performances from any driver this season.
He secured a crushing pole position by almost three-tenths of a second, before winning with ease by a staggering 30 seconds over Charles Leclerc.
It was one of Norris' strongest F1 performances, which saw him take the lead of the drivers' title by a point over team-mate Oscar Piastri.
In Brundle's eyes, Norris found something extra in Mexico, something he believes Verstappen seems to find in every grand prix.
"I thought it was an outstanding weekend for Lando," Brundle said on the Sky F1 podcast. "If we'd have seen that kind of performance from Max or Lewis or even Button there, we'd have talked about it in hushed tones, because it was outstanding.
"And you often hear me talk about when I commentated on championship showdowns, that one or more of the combatants, the main participants, seem to find an overdrive gear somehow.
"That was Lando's overdrive, Max seems to have the overdrive engaged at all times.
"But I just thought, that qualifying lap, the perfect start, defending into the most difficult first corner of the year, heading off into the distance was just perfect, and just the sort of statement and confidence booster he needs right now."
