Nico Rosberg does not believe Lewis Hamilton would have committed the mistakes that cost Lando Norris any chance of victory in the Belgian Grand Prix.
The McLaren driver started from pole at Spa-Francorchamps, in a race that was delayed by well over an hour due to adverse weather conditions.
When the grand prix did eventually get underway after four laps behind the safety car, a mistake on the exit of the first corner left Norris vulnerable to attack from Oscar Piastri behind.
His McLaren team-mate promptly made it past down the Kemmel Straight, and the British driver never again got within striking distance.
After having to stay out an extra lap as the circuit dried, a slow stop left Norris considerable work to do to put Piastri under pressure with an offset tyre advantage.
However, three further mistakes cost him numerous seconds and denied him the opportunity to fight the Australian in the closing stages.
He eventually crossed the line in second place, 3.4 seconds behind Piastri, who extended his F1 drivers' championship advantage from nine points to 16, whereas a Norris victory would have reduced it to a mere two.
"He was just [doing] qualifying lap after qualifying lap on the absolute edge," Rosberg reflected on Sky Sports F1. "And then perhaps a couple of mistakes like that happen."
However, the 2016 F1 drivers' champion was not convinced others, namely Hamilton, would have made the same errors.
"I just question whether someone like Hamilton, if he also would have made three mistakes, which I'm not sure, pushing like crazy in a race like that, when there's Hammer time, I'm not sure - I think they don't happen, those three mistakes," the German added.
"But anyway, still, hats off anyway, Lando still did a good job this weekend."
Unforced mistakes from Norris have been a considerable talking point throughout the current F1 campaign, and they have cost the eight-time grand prix winner at multiple rounds.
Despite having shown better form of late, winning at both the Red Bull Ring and Silverstone, earlier in the weekend, Rosberg highlighted how errors seem to impact Norris more than when Piastri makes them.
