Lando Norris’ former school has revealed that the reigning world champion visited on Monday, in an experience that inspired students.
Norris made the trip to his old school following last week’s three-day test in Barcelona, which saw McLaren run its MCL40 for the first time ahead of its attempt to defend the drivers’ and constructors’ titles.
The McLaren driver paid a visit to Chew Stoke Church School and was greeted by the entire school on arrival, with students waving flags as Norris exited his vehicle.
Following his arrival, Norris took photos with numerous students before taking part in a whole-school assembly, where he spoke about always pushing to achieve your goals and what motivates him.
The assembly ended with a short Q&A, before two students read a poem about the Briton and presented him with gifts.
Norris then went on to visit every classroom to answer further questions and sign several items. It marked an occasion both the 26-year-old and the school will never forget. To cap it all off, Norris left a gift for every student.
As part of his visit, Norris was handed a certificate notifying him that he had become an honorary member of the Chew Stoke Church School Society.
Taking to Facebook to share everything that happened on the day, the school wrote: "We are so incredibly grateful that Lando made a special visit to Chew Stoke.
"It is an experience the children and whole school community will not forget. We are certain it has inspired our pupils to aim high, dream big and remember anything is possible."
