Iconic F1 helmet livery returns as Alex Albon makes Williams history

A historic weekend is coming up for Alex Albon and Williams in Barcelona.

Alex Albon will make F1 history this weekend at the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix, where he will become the most experienced driver in Williams' history.

The event will mark the 96th grand prix Albon has entered with the Grove-based squad, surpassing the previous record held by Nigel Mansell.

To celebrate the occasion, Albon will wear a helmet that replicates the iconic colours used by Mansell during his F1 career.

Mansell won the F1 championship in 1992 with Williams, driving the famous FW14B car designed by Adrian Newey.

Albon is currently in his fifth season with Williams, having joined the team in 2022 following a period with Red Bull.

“It is incredible to think that I've raced for this historic team more often than one of the true greats of the sport,” Albon said.

“Nigel Mansell was an inspiration to me growing up, a true fighter and a legend for both Williams and Formula 1 as a whole.

“This achievement is about far more than the number itself. Every Grand Prix start over the last five seasons represents the hard work of the entire team at Grove.

“Through the highs and lows, every race has contributed to the journey Williams has been on.

“To have my name alongside legendary Williams drivers such as Nigel, Damon Hill, and Ralf Schumacher is a real privilege and a source of immense pride.”

Albon enters the race weekend in Barcelona after bagging an eighth-place result in Monaco, his highest finish of the season.
