Christian Horner has warned Red Bull may be forced to "change the whole lot" of Sergio Perez's car after his heavy crash during Monaco Grand Prix qualifying. The Mexican's title hopes took a dent when he slid into the exit barrier at Sainte Devote in Q1, causing extensive damage to his RB19. Perez, who secured wins in Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan to underline his Championship ambitions, was seemingly caught out by an Alpine ahead of him as he entered the first turn, missing his braking point before crashing out. It means Perez will start the race from last on the grid after slipping down the timesheets as the track evolved in the principality, though the repair work completed by his Red Bull team may dictate a pit-lane start. Speaking to Sky Sports F1 , Horner said: "Unfortunately, [Perez made] a mistake too early in Q1. "I can only think that maybe he was distracted by the Alpine on the right-hand side because he just misjudged that first turn and the circuit was only going to get faster and faster, so he will be kicking himself for that."
Chassis change necessary
On how severe the damage to Perez's car is, Horner added: "We might have to change the whole lot, the chassis, just as a precaution. "It is so hard. Max started from that position a few years ago and only just made it into the top 10. "Scoring points will be the target because it is likely to be a one-stop race, you are caught in the crocodile and you can't use your pace."
