Christian Horner has hailed the "phenomenal achievement" of Red Bull setting a new Formula 1 record for consecutive Grand Prix wins with victory in Hungary. Max Verstappen's ninth win of the season, and seventh on the trot, was enough to secure Red Bull its 12th win in succession, eclipsing the 1988 record of McLaren who won 11 straight. Verstappen's win at the Hungaroring was his most crushing of the season, coming home 33s ahead of second-place Lando Norris as he took a fifth maximum score from the previous seven races. Reflecting on the win, Horner paid tribute to the team, who can win the Constructors' Championship as early as the Italian Grand Prix at Monza.
Horner reflects on Red Bull history
"We achieved history, which is something very special for the whole team," Horner told media including RacingNews365. "To achieve the record of 12 consecutive Grand Prix victories, to break that record from 1988 -when I remember watching Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost and the great McLaren team led by Ron Dennis, to think that it has taken 35 years but we are the team to break that, particularly with the quality of opposition we're racing is a phenomenal achievement. "It is one that the whole team can be immensely proud of. "But how long can we keep this winning going? Who knows? "We've got another challenge next weekend with the sprint race, the variable conditions oof Spa and anything can happen. "So really, we are just taking it pretty much one event at a time."
