Horner: If I was Wolff I'd keep my mouth shut

Red Bull finished Friday practice in Azerbaijan atop both FP1 and FP2. However Christian Horner couldn't help but continue to add to the already heated debate regarding flexi wings.

The war of words between Red Bull and Mercedes over the flexi wings doesn't look like it's going away anytime soon, with Christian Horner telling Toto Wolff to keep his mouth shut given the front wing the Silver Arrows are running. Wolff stated that he is ready to launch a protest at Azerbaijan Grand Prix if he believes Red Bull are running a wing outside the bounds of the technical legalities, but Horner made his thoughts on the matter clear. "If I was Toto, with a front wing he's got on his car, I'd keep my mouth shut," Horner told Sky Sports F1. Horner continued while watching footage of Mercedes' front wing in action, offering an alternative reason as to why the wing moves. "Not sure I have to say too much," Horner added. "You can see the the sponsorship on the front wing and then it disappears as he comes into a braking area. Maybe that's what it's for, to expose the new sponsor on the front wing." With more stringent tests set to be introduced next time out at the French Grand Prix, Horner reiterated that talk regarding these flexible rear wings is nothing new. "I think that all cars have a degree of flexibility, the weight that's going on to these wings, it's impossible to make an entirely rigid structure when you've got tons of downforce being applied to it," Horner continued. "I think even teams like Alfa Romeo upwards, even Haas I think, asked for the introduction of these new tests. It's nothing new. It's been around for years and years and years. There are vert stringent tests that we are subjected to after each session."
