Horner explains how Red Bull overcame Brazil 'hurt'

Red Bull took its 19th win of the season at the Brazilian Grand Prix as it successfully overcame its woes from the Interlagos 12 months ago when it was defeated by Mercedes.

Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner has praised his squad's ability to overcome the problems it endured in Brazil last year.

Verstappen took pole position for the São Paulo Grand Prix before securing victories in the F1 Sprint and the main race.

Red Bull's successful weekend in Brazil contrasted greatly to 12 months ago when it struggled around the Interlagos Circuit with Mercedes taking victory in the Sprint and the Grand Prix.

Verstappen and Perez had finished only sixth and seventh last term in a race overshadowed by infighting at the team over the Dutchman's refusal to switch positions.

The Milton Keynes-based squad's win in São Paulo was its 20th of the season as it continued its dominant campaign.

Red Bull learned lessons

On how Red Bull overcame the previous year's struggles, Horner told media including RacingNews365.com: "You've got to keep improving in all areas.

“I think leaving this race last year hurt that our performance wasn't as strong as we would have liked.

“We felt we didn't get the set-up right. And so we came here, we learned the lessons from last year, we applied them, well, we focused the car on the race.

“In the end, we came away with a pole, the sprint and the Grand Prix with a third and fourth for Checo. It's been a very strong weekend.”
