Ex-Formula 1 champion Damon Hill thinks Sergio Perez's aggressive defense of his potion at the restart of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix forced Lewis Hamilton into making a mistake With Max Verstappen's crash bringing out the red flag, the drivers had to re-start the race with just two laps to go. Perez and Hamilton lined up first and second on the grid respectively, with the British driver making the better getaway with Perez being forced to swerve across the track in order to protect his position, Hill believes this action won the Red Bull driver the race. "I'm going to mention Perez because he did a fantastic job," Hill said on the F1 Nation podcast. "On the restart, he really made Lewis jump and I was surprised by how aggressively, and I think Lewis was probably really surprised, by how aggressive Perez was going to defend. "It's quite easy to imagine that in his [Hamilton's] quick reaction, it was possible for him to flick a button and that's it. That's clearly what happened, he's gone in deep and the brakes weren't working." With both Verstappen and Hamilton failing to score points, the difference between the pair is still four points with Verstappen currently leading the Drivers' Championship.
