Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has warned Red Bull it could face fresh challenges this weekend at the Monaco Grand Prix.

The Milton Keynes-based squad triumphed at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix as Verstappen took his second win of the campaign.

Red Bull brought upgrades to the event at Imola, which aided Verstappen's run to finish ahead of the McLaren duo.

However, with Monaco having a largely unique track layout, Marko stated the team could find itself slumping back down the pecking order.

"The car is now doing what Max wants again,” Marko told OE24. “That is due to the updates, which thank God have worked.

“That was only Imola; at the next grand prix, things could look very different.

“[Monaco is] a completely different circuit with only slow corners. Things could be much worse there.”

Nevertheless, Red Bull enter the Monaco weekend in high spirits following Verstappen's win at Imola.

The four-time champion took the lead of the race after overtaking Oscar Piastri at the opening corner - a move hailed by Marko.

“With his manoeuvre at the start, Max proved once again that he is the best,” he added.

“Seeing the opening and then exploiting it is something only he can do.”
