Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko hailed Max Verstappen's crushing Italian Grand Prix victory as a "resurrection" for the Austrian outfit.

Verstappen converted pole position into victory at Monza to crush McLaren by 19.2 seconds, but did face an early fight with Lando Norris.

The four-time world champion cut across the first chicane on the opening lap and was instructed to fall behind Norris, before quickly overtaking the Briton with ease.

It marked a first win for Verstappen and the team since Imola, with Marko recognising that only two races ago in Hungary were the team celebrating scoring a point.

"Two races ago, in Hungary, [we] was still happy if a point was achieved at all," Marko told Sky DE.

"Here we win by 20 seconds. Except for the first corner, it was sovereign. Max was in constant control and our concerns were only because of a possible safety car. That's why we delayed the pit stop a bit."

It was a sublime performance by Verstappen and a record-breaking one, as the 27-year-old crossed the finish line to complete the quickest F1 race in history. Marko was full of praise for the Milton Keynes-based outfit's star driver.

"You can't say anything about it when he has a 20-second lead," added Marko. "That's just Max now. What a resurrection, we are all overjoyed."

Red Bull did introduce a new floor for the Italian GP which has performed better than the team expected, giving it confidence for the remainder of the season.

"When I think of last year, Monza, that was our worst race," Marko recalled. "I believe in Baku. The fast circuits should suit us more.

"Singapore is a country where we have never won. But I think we can compete at the front on most circuits under our own steam."
