Hannah Schmitz
In the male-dominated world of Formula 1, some women are making a big impact. Hannah Schmitz is a prime example. Meet the strategic mind behind the success of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez!

Not only men shine in Formula 1; several women also excel in the sport. One such example is Hannah McMillan, now known as Hannah Schmitz. Growing up in London, Schmitz had a passion for cars and technology from an early age. During her school days at Croydon High School, she excelled in water polo.
Schmitz came into the spotlight after the 2019 Brazilian Grand Prix, which was won by Max Verstappen. Schmitz was awarded the constructors' trophy, highlighting the importance of her role.
Indeed, Red Bull's victory in Brazil was not solely due to Verstappen's driving skills; it was a team effort. Crucial tactical decisions, led by Schmitz, played a major role. Her brave decision to give Verstappen new tyres during a safety-car situation turned out to be the right one in hindsight. That is why, at the direction of team boss Christian Horner, she stood on the podium to share well-deserved champagne with millions of Formula 1 fans worldwide.
Hannah Schmitz Red Bull Racing
A glance at Hannah Schmitz's LinkedIn profile reveals an impressive CV. She graduated from the University of Cambridge in Mechanical Engineering and was actively involved in several projects there, including the Solar Team and a solar power project in Chile. She started her career at Red Bull in 2009 as a Modelling and Simulator Engineer and worked her way up to Senior Strategy Engineer. She is now Head Strategy Engineer, a role she alternates each race with colleague Will Courtenay. If Schmitz can be found on the pit wall during a race, Courtenay will be in Red Bull Racing's Operations Room in Milton Keynes, and vice versa.
Her current role at Red Bull involves analysing racing strategies and developing new software and tools to optimise them. In short, Schmitz is an intellectual force well worth her position in Formula 1.
