Former F1 team boss Eddie Jordan has urged Lewis Hamilton to leave Mercedes and 'reinvent' himself. The seven-time World Champion has hit a stagnant point in his career with the Silver Arrows struggling to provide a competitive car to challenge with under F1's newest regulatory era. Mercedes' struggles are underlined by the team securing just a single win since the technical regulations changed at the start of last year, with that victory taken by George Russell at the São Paulo Grand Prix. Hamilton has won more races than any other driver in F1 history but his last came in Saudi Arabia in 2021 and, with Red Bull dominant in the opening five races of the new campaign, the Briton looks unlikely to add to his tally unless drastic improvement is found with the first major upgrade package added at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Russell has continued to impress this season and conceding he "got it wrong" with Hamilton's teammate, Jordan told his Formula For Success podcast: "I saw him in the Williams and I thought: 'Are they really going to sign him? Is that really what is going to happen?' "He absolutely blew me away and full marks, hands up, I got that wrong - I never thought he would do what he is doing and I never thought he would be beating Lewis." Hamilton joined Mercedes off the back of failing to beat Jenson Button over a combined three-year period at McLaren and Jordan explained: "My only concern is that Lewis has to find something else in his mojo now and he needs to get out of there. He needs to move on just like he did when he was with McLaren. "Get out of Mercedes Lewis, it is time you reinvent yourself somewhere else."
