Lewis Hamilton has been praised for his 'no BS' approach to the making of Hollywood's blockbuster movie based on Formula 1.

Simply entitled 'F1', the film stars Brad Pitt and Damson Idris as team-mates in the APXGP outfit, and is due for release on June 25 next year.

Seven-time F1 champion Hamilton is co-producer, alongside Top Gun's Jerry Bruckheimer, with Joseph Kosinski as director, to add to his list of credits that include Tron: Legacy, Oblivion, Only the Brave, and Top Gun: Maverick.

Idris, who plays young rookie Joshua Pierce, has described the movie as "unlike anything anyone's ever seen before". He added: "It's a whirlwind, we're driving the cars for real."

Idris claims Hamilton's input has been crucial to delivering an authentic experience that will resonate with fans.

"There's no better person to teach you about Formula 1 than Lewis Hamilton," said Idris. "So Lewis comes in, and he essentially calls BS. He lets us know that, 'Hey, that wouldn't happen'. Which is a rarity in this art form.

"As it's a fictional story, to have someone who lives, breathes and sleeps Formula 1, we're in no better hands."

Hamilton 'doesn't get enough praise'

Speaking prior to Hamilton's return to the top step of the podium in Sunday's British Grand Prix after a two-and-a-half-year absence, Idris feels the 39-year-old is someone to be respected after working alongside him in the making of the film.

"Lewis, beautiful Hamilton, who we all admire, who we're all inspired by,"  He just gave an amazing talk downstairs, which was incredibly moving for me.

"He doesn't get enough praise. Aside from being just a fantastic sportsman, he has pushed the sport in such a positive direction.

"He's innovative, and when I think of Lewis, I think of inspiring, it doesn't matter what art form you're involved in, I think you could always take a bit of Lewis and apply it to your life."
