Carlos Sainz has been hit with further Formula 1 punishment by the stewards after his Australian Grand Prix time penalty. Judged "wholly" at fault for colliding with Fernando Alonso on the Lap 57 restart, the stewards handed him a five-second time penalty, demoting the Ferrari from fourth to 12th. Post-race, Sainz was furious, labelling the decision "the biggest disgrace" he had seen. Having taken into account testimony, video and telemetry evidence, the stewards have given Sainz two penalty points on his superlicence for the incident. Fortunately for Sainz, they are his first for the 12 month period, with 12 points needed to trigger a ban.
