Formula E has announced that it's annual round in Saudi Arabia will be moving from Diriyah to Jeddah for the upcoming season.

The event which has traditionally been held around the Diriyah UNESCO world heritage site, will be held on a shortened version of F1's Jeddah Corniche Circuit.

It was announced following an e-vote by the FIA World Motor Sport Council, whilst it was also approved by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Sport.

Jeddah will now host the Saudi Arabia double-header, scheduled for 14-15 February 2025. Diriyah, situated just outside Riyadh, had been the host city in Saudi Arabia for the past six seasons.

Unfortunately, despite being a driver favourite, the Diriyah circuit has failed to deliver exciting racing since the introduction of the Gen3 era. In Jeddah, overtaking should be easier.

A official track layout will be confirmed in October by the FIA WMSC.

On the switch, a Formula E spokesperson said: "The Jeddah E-Prix will offer an exhilarating race experience on a modified layout of the fast and flowing Corniche street circuit, contributing to the growth of motorsport in the region.

"With its breathtaking Red Sea backdrop, the 2025 Jeddah E-Prix promises an unforgettable experience for fans and competitors alike."
