Former F1 test and IndyCar driver Simona de Silvestro is to compete for Italy in the bobsleigh events at the upcoming Winter Olympics.
de Silvestro drove a 2012 Sauber at Ferrari's Fiorano track in 2014, but any hopes of a race seat were ended later that year as the Swiss-Italian also competed in IndyCar, Formula E and V8 Supercars.
In 2022, she switched careers to compete in bobsleigh, and, at her first attempt, has qualified to represent Italy in the upcoming Milan-Cortina games between February 6th-22nd.
She is to compete in the monobob and the two-woman bobsleigh events, with these scheduled for the middle week of the games.
"We officially made it, We’re going to the Olympic Games," she wrote on Instagram.
"Proof that a little crazy, mixed with belief, can make the impossible real.
"It all started with a dream that I wasn’t scared to chase!
"I cannot wait to represent Italy in Milano Cortina 2026."
