FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem has issued a statement following the escalating conflict in the Middle East.
Missile strikes across the region have taken place after an attack on Iran was launched on Saturday by the United States and Israel, with retaliation from Iran being felt in Qatar, Bahrain, the UAE, Kuwait, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia.
The situation has already triggered the cancellation of a two-day Pirelli test in Bahrain, with airspace and airport closures across much of the region resulting in some Pirelli, McLaren, and Mercedes employees being stranded.
The FIA World Endurance Championship season is scheduled to get underway in Qatar later this month, while Formula 1 is due to race in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia in April.
The situation is being carefully monitored by both championship promoters and the FIA, with Ben Sulayem calling for a "swift return to stability".
Ben Sulayem's official statement read: "As president of the FIA, my thoughts are with all those affected by the recent events in the Middle East. We are deeply saddened by the loss of life and stand with the families and communities impacted.
"At this moment of uncertainty, we hope for calm, safety, and a swift return to stability. Dialogue and the protection of civilians must remain priorities.
"We are in close contact with our Member Clubs, championship promoters, teams, and colleagues on the ground as we monitor developments carefully and responsibly.
"Safety and well-being will guide our decisions as we assess the forthcoming events scheduled there for the FIA World Endurance Championship and the FIA Formula One World Championship.
"Our organisation is built on unity and shared purpose. That unity matters now more than ever."
