RacingNews365 understands that the FIA has clarified the stricter rules around misconduct and swearing to the drivers, during the driver briefing at this weekend's Australian Grand Prix.
It was announced during the winter break that motorsport's governing body would punish swearing and misconduct harsher, through increased fines and potential race bans.
WRC driver Adrien Fourmaux became the first to be punished under the stricter rules, for swearing during an immediate post-stage televised interview.
He was fined €10,000, whilst an additional €20,000 fine was suspended.
F1 drivers quickly raised concerns over the severity of the new rules, with potential fines for swearing in the pinnacle of motorsport reaching over €100,000.
The point was raised that some drivers would struggle to pay the fines, whilst others argued that foul language can be caused by adrenaline and raw emotion.
Now, the FIA has clarified to the drivers in what circumstances they will be fined for swearing, and where it remains acceptable.
Drivers will not be fined for swearing over the team radio, unless it is directed towards the race stewards or other officials.
However, should a driver swear during a televised interview or press conference, then it will resort in a punishment.
