FIA F1 race director issues apology to the drivers

Michael Masi, the FIA-appointed F1 race director has apologized to the drivers for his slow reaction the Max Verstappen crash in Baku.

Michael Masi, who serves as the FIA race director for all the Formula 1 Grand Prix has issued an apology to all the drivers for neutralizing the Azerbaijan Grand Prix much slower than was necessary after Max Verstappen's crash. According to Auto Motor und Sport, Masi waited a minute and a half after the incident before finally signalling for the Safety Car to be deployed. His slow reaction was something he brought to notice during the driver briefing in Paul Ricard before ultimately apologizing for his tardiness. According to the report, the Australian also reiterated that the drivers must pay heed to the yellow flags citing how none of them had slowed down enough after the incident.
