Ferrari make huge donation to support Ukrainians in need

Ferrari are doing their part to help refugees following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which has led to millions of people fleeing the country.

Ferrari have made a donation of one million euros to help Ukrainians in need following Russia's invasion of the country. Russia recently launched a major military assault on Ukraine by air, land and sea, prompting a mass exodus of refugees that has grown from hundreds of thousands of people to millions in a matter of days. As the war goes on and refugees arrive in countries across Europe, a steady flow of high-profile companies have announced donations to provide much-needed support, with Ferrari revealing their plans on Tuesday. Working with the Red Cross and UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), Ferrari will fund international humanitarian projects supporting Ukraine, as well as local initiatives for refugees in the Italian region. Meanwhile, aid will go to the Association Chernobyl of Maranello (set up after the 1986 nuclear disaster), to provide for the needs of Ukrainians who will be hosted in the area.

Ferrari do their part and hope for "peaceful solution"

In another step, Ferrari have taken the decision to suspend the production of vehicles for the Russian market until further notice, saying they will "continue to monitor the situation closely and will always respect all rules, regulations and sanctions". "Ferrari stands alongside everyone in Ukraine affected by this ongoing humanitarian crisis," said Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna, as the company's donation was announced. "While we hope for a rapid return to dialogue and a peaceful solution, we cannot remain indifferent to the suffering of everyone affected. Our thoughts and support go out to them. "We are playing our small part alongside the institutions that are bringing immediate relief to this situation." In F1, the Russian Grand Prix has been dropped from the calendar, while Haas have parted ways with Russian driver Nikita Mazepin and Russian sponsor Uralkali.
