Ferrari and Aston Martin have both been handed warnings by Japanese Grand Prix stewards following incidents involving Lewis Hamilton and Lance Stroll.
Following the conclusion of the second practice session, both teams were summoned to the stewards over an alleged failure to adhere to race director Rui Marques's pre-race instructions regarding the use of the pit lane.
Marques had written that upon leaving the garage, a car should make its way to the running lane - or fast lane - of the pit-lane and blend into the queue, with any car having used the slow lane to the inside being deemed to have not followed the instruction.
During the heavily disrupted FP2 session featuring four red flags, both Hamilton and Lance Stroll completed practice starts by using the slow lane and not moving across from the fast-lane into the pre-determined position for the practice starts.
As such, both teams and drivers were handed simple warnings with no further sanctions handed out.
Hamilton had finished fourth in FP2 with Stroll 19th, having not completed a representative time given the disruptive nature of the session, with four red flags.
