Ferrari junior Callum Ilott is set to step away from single-seater racing for the time being, as he embarks on a new challenge - the GT World Challenge to be precise. The British driver had an impressive 2020, narrowly missing out on the F2 title to Mick Schumacher. Despite being second best, Ilott did out-score Nikita Mazepin and Yuki Tsunoda, sealing three race wins and five pole positions in the process. The move to GT racing comes after the 22-year-old missed out on an F1 seat for the 2021 season, though he does still remain a key member of the Ferrari young driver academy. Ilott will make his debut in the GT World Challenge series with Iron Lynx later this year, as his involvement won't directly affect his current duties as a Ferrari test driver.

Very excited to debut in @GTWorldChEu with @IronLynx_ for this year. Definitely something different to what I’m used to but that’s all part of the challenge 💪🏻thank you to @insideFDA and Competizioni Gt for making this happen. pic.twitter.com/TPcKIOa5RK — Callum Ilott (@callum_ilott) February 25, 2021
