Ferrari discover unusual front wing fault in Bahrain testing

Ferrari discovered an unusual issue on the opening morning of F1 pre-season testing at the Bahrain International Circuit.

An early issue was discovered on the front wing of Carlos Sainz's Ferrari, which appeared to be deforming on the high-speed sections of the Bahrain circuit. Despite the team setting the pace in the opening exchanges of the first test day, an unusual defect was spotted on the nose cone of the SF-23. Under high speed (and therefore higher aerodynamic loads), the nose cone appeared to form a 'divot' or 'dimple' in the centre (see image below). When asked about the issue, Ferrari confirmed that the bodywork deflection was not intentional, and was due to a lack of support structure on the inside of the nose cone. The team also confirmed that the issue would be remedied and unlikely to appear for the rest of the day. To view the live blog from the opening day of the test, click here .
